Emerging Geohazards in Hong Kong and Pearl River Delta due to Climate Changes (Sponsor: EHIA; PIs: Profs. LM Zhang, C.W.W. Ng, Y.H. Wang, Y.K. Tung, D.G. Fredlund, C.T. Hsu, P.A. van Laak, and K. Xu). PhD student: Mr. Jin Yu
The research team will carry out both fundamental and applied research to meet the following objectives:
To study short-term and long-term impacts of climate changes on landslides, floods formation and ground subsidence in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta
To study hydro-geological conditions in ground at extreme drought climate
To study the mechanisms of “surprising” floods and landslides following an extreme drought
To study the process of delta ground subsidence due to changes in hydro-geological conditions at extreme drought climate |
To collaborate with government organizations and universities in Hong Kong and the Mainland in the emerging area of research. |
